Knowing it's not always obvious how ePrep fits into a private tutoring practice, I'd like to outline how I, Karl Schellscheidt, use ePrep for the SAT in my own tutoring practice:
Boarding Students
I tutor several students who board at private high schools in and around Princeton, New Jersey. I give them ePrep assignments whenever they travel home for long weekends or extended vacations. Doing so helps me keep them on track.
Busy Students
I tutor several students with extremely busy and unpredictable schedules. Meeting with them once a week in person is challenging, but doable. I have such students do one ePrep session on their own each week. They fit the “at-home” session in whenever they can.
Financially Challenged Students
I tutor some students who want (and need) private tutoring, but cannot afford more than one session per week. Each week, such students meet with me once and do an ePrep session from home once (or twice, in some cases).
Students with illnesses or last-minute conflicts
Sometimes students are forced to cancel a private tutoring appointment last minute. Either they are sick or something “pops up” that makes meeting with me impossible. In such situations, I simply instruct them to do an ePrep session from home or school.
